Syriac Alphabet (Estrangela)
The Syriac Alphabet. Required for beginning to read the Peshitta. I transliterate the Syriac Alphabet a little less conventionally than others might. I prefer the Biblical pronunciation of the Semitic Alphabet to the Modern Sephardic pronunciation, preferred by most, and my unconventional transliteration reflects this. Thus: ܐ is transliterated by me as: ʔ ܒ is transliterated by me as: b ܓ is transliterated by me as: ɡ͡ħ ܪ is transliterated by me as: d͡ħ ܗ is transliterated by me as: h ܘ is transliterated by me as: w ܙ is transliterated by me as: z ܚ is transliterated by me as: c͡h ܛ is transliterated by me as: t ܝ is transliterated by me as: y ܟ is transliterated by me as: k͡ħ ܠ is transliterated by me as: l ܡ is transliterated by me as: m ܢ is transliterated by me as: n ܣ is transliterated by me as: s ܥ is transliterated by me as: h ܨ is transliterated by me as: t͡s ܩ is transliterated by me as: q ܪ is transliterated by me as: t ܫ is transliterated by me as: s͡h ܬ is transliterated by me as: t͡ħ
